The Penthouse Bar + Grill on the 36th floor of the Park Hyatt is one of Bangkok's most committed grand-hotel bar programmes. The room runs across three rooms — a whiskey bar, a champagne bar, and a grill room — with a single cocktail list and a unified service approach.
The view is the obvious draw — full Lumpini Park and Wireless Road below — but the cocktail programme rewards a serious sit. The signature Penthouse 75 (Plymouth gin, fresh lemon, house-made champagne syrup, vintage champagne float) is the bar's strongest call. The whiskey list runs to over 200 labels with a notably deep Japanese section.
The grill room serves an unusually capable steak-and-classics menu (dry-aged Australian Wagyu, the Park Hyatt's house Caesar, a lobster bisque that earns its price). It is built for a long romantic dinner. The whiskey and champagne rooms work as before-and-after dinner stops; the bartenders move freely between all three, so the cocktail quality is the same throughout.
The Penthouse is a destination for serious occasions — anniversaries, deal-closings, the kind of date night that needs to make a statement. Smart dress is enforced. Reservations are essential for dinner; the cocktail rooms accept walk-ins for the bar counter. Two-and-a-half hours is the right pacing for a full visit.
Best time to visit: Weekday evenings before 9pm for a quieter version of the room; weekends after 9pm for the busier one. Reservations recommended where the bar accepts them.
