wine · Iconic Den Vandrette in Christianshavn is essentially the canal-side annex of the Ved Stranden importer programme, but it has developed an identity entirely its own. The list overlaps usefully with the parent bar but rotates more aggressively, the room is smaller and less formal, and the by-the-glass chalkboard is one of the most genuinely curatorial in the city.
The food is short and sharp — herring, cheese, a single hot plate — and the staff are happy to walk a newcomer through a five-glass progression. It ranks sixth for being the most useful bar in central Copenhagen for an unhurried solo drinker, and for the rotation speed, which keeps even monthly visitors looking at a new list.
