Bar Tÿpo

$$

A colourful room on the ground floor of the House of Text, with gigs, local taps, rotating cocktails, and grilled bread when the night needs it.

Bar Tÿpo takes the first floor of the House of Text on Lintulahdenkatu and runs it as Sörnäinen's culture bar: gigs, gatherings, and a room MyHelsinki describes as colourful and bold. The opening night had live sets; the calendar has not slowed since.

The taps pour local craft breweries, the wine list stays honest, and rotating cocktails cover the rest. Time Out's Helsinki best bars list keeps the neighbourhood's new wave on the map, and Tÿpo is its social engine.

Who would hate it? Anyone hunting a silent pint. The room is built for noise, and most nights provide it.

Sörnäinen runs industrial, and Tÿpo answers with colour: a bold, graphic room that wears the House of Text's typography history on its walls. Stadissa lists the bar among the district's gathering points. Early evening suits talkers; gig nights rearrange the floor and the volume.

Start with whatever local brewery holds the taps this month, then let the rotating cocktail list cover round two. Happy hour runs Tuesday to Friday from 4pm to 6pm, the cheapest serious start in the district. The kitchen sends grilled bread in the evenings and a weekday lunch.

The crowd pulls from Kallio and the creative offices upstairs: designers at happy hour, gig crowds after nine, and weekend nights that run to 3am. Tuesday closes at midnight; the week builds from there.
