Unwined

$$

One small shop at APW, more than 200 natural labels, and staff who pick by mood rather than by region. KL's natural wine education started here.

Unwined sits inside APW Bangsar, the printing works turned food yard, and runs one of the deepest natural wine cellars in Malaysia: more than 200 labels, most of them low intervention bottles the city had never seen when the shop opened. RAW WINE carries the bar on its global profile list.

LUXUO names it among the early purveyors of natural wine in KL, and the format stays humble: a small shop built for conversation, where staff ask what you feel like, zesty, fruity, sparkling, dry, and pull bottles to match.

Who would hate it? Anyone wanting a formal wine service with a leather list. This is a shop counter, and that is the charm.

The room is small by design, encouraging talk between tables, and the APW yard outside supplies the food: the bar positions itself as the place to drink while picking dinner from the neighbouring kitchens. Saturday afternoons from 2pm are the local ritual. The Telawi sister room, Unwined Plus, adds small plates for the gastronomically inclined, per Tatler.

Skip the urge to scan all 200 labels; the staff selection by mood works, and Time Out's KL guide keeps the bar on its best of list for exactly that service. Pet nats and chilled reds suit the Malaysian heat. Bottles also sell to take away at shop pricing.

The crowd runs creative and unhurried: APW's freelancers rolling from coffee to wine, dates that want talk over volume, and collectors hunting labels. Evenings stay easy through the week; weekends fill the yard.
