The Confidante Lobby Bar sat inside The Confidante Miami Beach, an Unbound Collection by Hyatt hotel at 4041 Collins Avenue, on the Mid-Beach stretch around 40th Street. The building was one of Miami Beach's storied art deco towers, originally built in the 1940s and run as a nostalgic, retro-glam property that leaned into the city's 1950s heyday. The lobby bar was the casual social hub, pouring craft cocktails and local brews on tap a few steps from the front desk.

Its partner in the lobby was Bird & Bone, the Southern-inspired restaurant from South Florida chef Richard Hales, best known for a Nashville hot fried chicken that local press repeatedly named among the city's best. Together they made the ground floor a destination in its own right, not just a place guests passed through on the way to the beach.

Sunstone Hotel Investors acquired the property and announced a roughly 60 million dollar repositioning. The hotel closed in March 2024 for a top-to-bottom renovation, as Travel Weekly reported at the time, and reopened in 2025 as the Andaz Miami Beach, the first Andaz in Florida, with 287 rooms and 67 suites restored in art deco style. The Confidante Lobby Bar and Bird & Bone closed with the old hotel and did not carry over.

The address still pours drinks. The bar that did it under this name does not. If you searched for The Confidante, the building you want now answers to Andaz Miami Beach.

If a Mid-Beach hotel bar is the goal, the rebuilt property is the current home of that address. For the kind of craft cocktail evening the lobby bar once offered, the bars below are open and worth the trip across Miami's cocktail scene.

For the serious-cocktail experience the lobby bar gestured at, book Broken Shaker in Miami, the garden bar that put the city on the world cocktail map. For a neighbourhood speakeasy, try The Anderson in Miami, and for a big, friendly room with drinks above its price point, Sweet Liberty in Miami.
