The address is 28 Avenue Notre Dame; the view is the Basilica de Notre Dame in the foreground and Nice rooftops running to the sea.
The Rooftop Guide lists it among the essential roofs in Nice. Farago on the Roof holds the smarter Carre d'Or postcode, but Bella Ciela holds the better sightline, and sightlines are the whole sport up here.
Two levels split the work: loungers and bar stools on the main terrace, a pool deck with sun beds above. The pool belongs to hotel guests by day; the bar belongs to whoever climbs the eight floors.
The fit out runs to comfortable rather than flashy: low seating, planted edges, and the basilica towers doing the decorating. Falstaff and the Cote d'Azur tourist board both list it without reservation.
Wind matters at this height. The terrace closes sections in rough weather, so a gray forecast is a reason to reroute.
Hotel guests hold the loungers through the afternoon; locals and travelers take over at aperitif hour. Sunset is the contested slot, and the only one worth booking ahead.
Tripadvisor reviews split on one axis: the view earns near universal praise, the service pace at peak does not.
Avenue Notre Dame runs one block east of Jean Medecin, four minutes from the tram. Take the lift inside the Mercure lobby to the 8th floor.
