Les Distilleries Idéales opens at 9am with coffee and closes past midnight with the last beer, and Riviera Buzz asks fairly whether the bar is as old as the old town itself.

The decor plays 1900s industrial distillery, copper, mirrors, and stacked bottles, and locals have kept it busy for more than twenty years straight per the city's own listings.

Eighteen taps and a whisky collection past 500 bottles give it range no terrace rival matches, at prices Mister Goodbeer tracks among the gentlest in central Nice.

The corner position is the whole show: two pedestrian streets cross at the terrace, and every chair faces the parade. Inside, the woodwork glows under globe lamps and the staircase hides a quieter mezzanine.

At 6pm the happy hour fills both rooms and the noise becomes part of the furniture. Mornings, the same tables hold espresso drinkers and newspapers.

Mornings belong to the market crowd from Cours Saleya one street over, afternoons to tourists who found the corner by accident, and evenings to the locals who never left. The terrace turnover is constant and the staff run it without ceremony.

Wanderlog reviewers land on the same notes: friendly staff, fair prices, and the best people watching seat in the old town.
