Aduela

Wine Bar Wine Bars $

Aduela holds the corner of Praca das Oliveiras with a terrace built around one olive tree. The name means barrel stave, and the room keeps the old taberna logic: cheap glasses, simple food, no theater.

Time Out lists it among the best bars in Porto for exactly that economy. Wines from most Portuguese regions pour by the glass at neighborhood prices, with sangria and moscatel beside them.

Google reviewers hold it at 4.6. The queue outside on a Friday night is the more honest rating.

Inside runs spacious, warm, and smoke free. Outside, the terrace catches afternoon sun and keeps the smokers.

Eat Porto describes the square as one of Baixa's most pleasant pockets, and the bar fills it edge to edge by 10pm.

There is an IPA on tap for the one beer drinker at the table. Everyone else drinks wine here.

Daytime brings readers and laptop workers on the terrace. After 9pm the room flips young, local, and loud.

Friday and Saturday run to 4am. Tripadvisor reviewers describe a friendly, cheap, student bar, which understates the wine list and gets the price right.
