Wine Bars $$

The most internationally diverse SoMa programme, with eighteen Coravin pours and serious half-glass comparisons.

list · Modern District on Townsend Street has run a serious by-the-glass programme since opening in 2008, and the cellar has been quietly broadened over the years into one of SoMa's most internationally diverse — Burgundy, Mosel, Etna, Australian Yarra and South African Swartland all appear with weekly rotation. Wine director Sarah Trubnick runs the floor and the cellar with a calm precision that the noisy industrial-loft format does not advertise.

The by-the-glass list runs eighteen references opened by Coravin, with serious half-glass programmes for tasting comparisons. Ranks seventh because the cellar breadth is genuine and the SoMa location fills a working-night gap in the city's wine geography.
