LeVeL33

Craft Beer $$$$

LeVeL33 holds a single record that no other brewery in the world has matched: the highest urban microbrewery on the planet. Thirty-three floors above Marina Bay, the brewery has been making beer in-house since 2011, with a copper tank suspended visibly above the bar.

Five house beers — Pilsner, Wheat, Stout, Blond, and a seasonal — brewed on-site using imported European malt and Marina Bay-filtered water. The Wheat is the bar's strongest call: 4.8%, banana-and-clove forward, properly hazy, served in a tall vase glass. The Pilsner and Stout are also genuinely good; the Blond is the safer order for a guest who is unsure.

The view is the obvious draw — full Marina Bay panorama, Singapore Strait beyond, with the brewery's copper tanks framing it from inside. Bookings are essential for window seats and the dress code is enforced firmly (smart casual; no shorts after 5pm). The kitchen does a small premium menu with the beer pairings; the Reuben sandwich is the right order with a Stout.

LeVeL33 is the destination order for a particular kind of Singapore evening — view-driven, beer-led, dressed up. Two beers and a small plate is an excellent ninety minutes. It is not the place for a casual pint, and that is the point.

Best time to visit: Weekday evenings before 9pm for the quieter version of the room; weekends after 9pm for the busier one. Reservations recommended where the bar accepts them.
