RedDot Brewhouse

Craft Beer $$

RedDot Brewhouse on Boat Quay has been brewing on-site since 2007. The signature beer — Monster Green Lager, a spirulina-infused green-coloured lager — is one of Singapore's most photographed beers and surprisingly drinkable. The brewery also makes more serious beers that locals tend to order over the photo-opportunity.

Six house beers brewed on-site: Monster Green Lager, RedDot Wheat, RedDot Pilsner, RedDot Stout, RedDot IPA, and a rotating seasonal. The brewery is visible from the dining room behind glass; the brewer is sometimes on the floor between batches. Of the lineup, the Pilsner and the Stout are the consistent local recommendations; the Monster Green is the order travellers come for.

The kitchen does Asia-Western fusion at scale — chilli crab pasta, satay sliders, a credible burger, sharing platters built for groups. The Boat Quay location and the riverside terrace make this one of the better outdoor-seating destinations in the CBD for a long lunch. Happy hour from 3pm to 7pm puts pints at S$12.

RedDot is not the most serious brewery in the city, but it is one of the most fun. Monster Green for the photo, Pilsner for the second pint, Stout for the third with food. The terrace is the right seat.

Best time to visit: Weekday evenings before 9pm for the quieter version of the room; weekends after 9pm for the busier one. Reservations recommended where the bar accepts them.
