7 Best Rooftop Bars in Europe

Our editors rank the 7 best rooftop bars in Europe for 2026 across Barcelona, Lisbon, London, Paris and Rome, with views and when to arrive.

The short answer

Our editors' №1 is Terrazza Les Etoiles, Prati (Rome).

7 ranked rooms follow. How we picked is at the end of this guide.

A great rooftop bar earns its place on the view, but the ones worth the lift also get the drink and the timing right. We ranked seven European rooftops our editors return to, across Barcelona, Lisbon, London, Paris and Rome.

We corrected two venue mix-ups while checking this list and dropped one spot that other guides call a rooftop but is a ground-floor wine bar. Sources include The Rooftop Guide, Time Out, Romeing and recent local reviews. Every terrace below is open and verified as of 2026.

Timing matters more on a rooftop than anywhere else. The view you are paying for peaks in the forty-five minutes around sunset, and the good tables go to whoever booked or arrived first. On the hotel rooftops in particular, that means calling ahead in summer and turning up in something a notch smarter than street clothes. On the car-park rooftops in London and Lisbon the dress code relaxes, but the sunset rush does not.

A word on who should skip them: if you want a quiet, drink-led night, most of these terraces are the wrong choice. Rooftops trade some cocktail precision for the panorama, the crowd and the wind. When the weather turns, several close their outdoor sections entirely, so a rooftop plan in February is a gamble. We say so on each entry rather than pretend every night is a warm one.

The 7 Best Rooftop Bars in Europe, Ranked

Editor's №1

Terrazza Les Etoiles, Prati (Rome)

Terrazza Les Etoiles crowns the Atlante Star Hotel in Prati, close enough to St Peter's dome that the guidebooks say you can nearly touch it. Aperitivo runs 5.30 to 9pm at a fixed forty-five euros that pairs a cocktail or wine with finger food, served among Mediterranean planting on a wraparound terrace. Romeing rates it among the city's best rooftops. For a Vatican-view sundowner, booked ahead.

ElCielo Rooftop, Sofitel Barcelona Skipper

ElCielo sits atop the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper near the beach, a sea-view terrace pairing cocktails with poolside Catalan plates. It draws a polished hotel-and-local crowd at golden hour and stays calmer than the Old Town rooftops. The Rooftop Guide lists it among the city's stronger hotel terraces. For a sea-facing alternative away from the center.

La Isabela, Hotel 1898 (Barcelona)

La Isabela tops Hotel 1898 directly on La Rambla, a 360-degree terrace with cocktails from twelve euros fifty and tapas built on Boqueria-market produce. Time Out and The Rooftop Guide both list it, and the sunset slot is the one regulars book. For a central Barcelona view without leaving the Old Town.

TOPO, Martim Moniz (Lisbon)

TOPO overlooks Praca Martim Moniz from the top of a car park, an unglamorous approach to one of Lisbon's most-recommended rooftop terraces. Expect well-priced cocktails, a young crowd and castle-and-rooftop views. Lisbon subreddits send visitors here for sunset. For a relaxed, low-cost first rooftop in the city.

Radio Rooftop, ME London

Radio, on the tenth floor of ME London, reopened after a 2.5-million-pound refit with an Asian-inspired drinks and small-plates menu and panoramic South Bank views. It runs late Thursday to Saturday and skews dressy. Boutique Hotelier covered the relaunch. For a night that wants a skyline and a dress code.

Netil360, London Fields (London)

Netil360 sits above a car park in London Fields, all natural wine, craft beer, cocktails and stone-baked pizza under an east-London skyline. The Nudge and Time Out both flag its unpretentious, chilled feel. For a laid-back Hackney afternoon rather than a hotel-bar occasion.

Perruche, Printemps Haussmann (Paris)

Perruche spreads across five hundred square metres on top of Printemps Haussmann, the men's store rather than the Galeries Lafayette next door that some listings confuse it with. The garden-style terrace gives a 360-degree Paris view, and Sortiraparis rates the setting above the cocktails, which are solid rather than remarkable. For a shopping-district break with a wide-open skyline.

How we picked

How we picked

We weight three things: the view, the quality and value of the drinks, and the timing that makes each terrace worth it. We cross-check published rooftop guides, hotel listings and recent reviews rather than relying on a single visit.

Honesty note: we dropped a Prati all-day bar that other lists file as a rooftop but is a ground-floor wine room, corrected one terrace that was attributed to the wrong hotel, and fixed a Paris rooftop filed under the wrong department store. Seven bars, all verified open in 2026, is the number we can defend.

We rank the drink and the value alongside the view because a great panorama with a mediocre, overpriced cocktail is a photo, not a bar. Where a terrace coasts on its skyline, as Perruche and Radio arguably do, we say the setting outruns the glass. Where a rooftop gets both right, as Terrazza Les Etoiles and La Isabela do, it climbs.
