Istanbul splits game day three ways. There are expat pubs in Beyoglu and Taksim that carry the Premier League and the Champions League with the sound up, there are big rooms that show Super Lig matches with a partisan local crowd, and the Asian side around Kadikoy is Fenerbahce country. Local kickoffs run at 5:30pm, 8pm and 10:30pm, so most of these stay open late. These ten cover all three scenes.

How we picked

How we picked

Istanbul rewards knowing which scene you want. The Beyoglu and Taksim pubs give you the Premier League and the Champions League with the sound on and an English speaking crowd, Touchdown picks up the American windows, and the Mackolik Complex and Havelka put you among local Super Lig fans. Pick the side of the water that matches the crowd you came for, and most of these will keep the screens on past midnight.

Every bar on this list was checked against its own current listing plus at least one independent guide before publishing, and ranked on the game day specifics that matter: screen count and sight lines, whether the sound goes on for the right league, the leagues and sports shown, the crowd, and how the room handles a late or overseas kickoff. We exclude venues we could not verify as open and showing live sport. For the method behind every game day guide, see our pillar guide to watching the game.

Marcus covers bars across Europe and the Middle East and has watched the Premier League from both sides of the Bosphorus. His game day test is whether the sound goes on for the right league and whether the crowd is the one you came for.
