Ruby on Nybrogade has run since 2007 behind an unmarked townhouse door, a candlelit cocktail flat that locals rate as the city's benchmark. The bartenders know their classics cold. Open from 4pm most days, and it fills early, so get there before the after-work crowd claims the good seats.

It opened in 2012 and holds a World's 50 Best Discovery spot. Open 4pm to 2am. A proper Copenhagen cocktail bar that does not shout about it.

Walk-ins are welcome on weeknights, but Friday and Saturday turn on seating. The drinks are precise and the room is small. One of the city's best, if you can find the door.
