Seoul does not have many bars that call themselves whisky bars, but it has some of the deepest backbars in Asia. The best rooms here are cocktail-led speakeasies and hotel lounges whose shelves run far past the usual Glenfiddich 12, into Scotch, Japanese, and Korean malts worth crossing the city for. Four of the nine below sit on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025.
The scene splits across Cheongdam and Gangnam south of the river, Seochon and Itaewon to the north, plus a couple of hotel bars with the views. Most are basement or hidden rooms that open in the evening and stay late. Here are the nine to drink whisky in.
Le Chamber hides behind a bookcase in Cheongdam and ranked No. 50 on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025. The back wall is a wall of bottles, and the whisky list runs deep into Scotch and Japanese rarities. Drinks are exact and not cheap. Best for a late, quiet pour when you want a serious backbar and a room that means it.
